June 6 2015 a section of 111th St. from Wentworth Ave to Eggleston St in Chicago was renamed ‘Derrion J. Albert Way’. This designation is in honor of slain Christian Fenger Academy High School student Derrion J. Albert.

This honor is prestigious yet I believe his family and friends would rather he be a honored graduate, or doctor or engineer or even President of something, but instead he has a short stretch of 111th Street in Chicago, IL to honor him. We hope and pray this honor changes the destructive mind thoughts and saves lives.

Many were on hand along with his mother, An-Jannette Albert who was instrumental in spearheading this honor. There was family, friends and even some who were there on that fateful day of September 24, 2009. Also in attendance 34th Ward Alderman Carrie Austin, Rev. Jesse L Jackson, Diane Latiker, Mark Allen, others who have lost love ones and many who work hard everyday to help change. PEACE TO YOU ALL
