Mar 2, 2021On March 2, 2021, the University of Chicago To &Through Project hosted an online panel discussion featuring Dr. Maurice Swinney, Chief Equity Officer for Chicago Public Schools (CPS); Dr. Shawn Jackson, President of Truman College; and Dr. Kyle Westbrook, Executive Director of the Partnership for College Completion. The panel discussion centered on the K-12 and higher education experiences of Black male students from CPS. Through collaborative dialogue, these educational leaders explored how the concept of educational debt is affecting the academic trajectories of young Black men from Chicago and ongoing efforts to support Black men’s attainment in CPS and higher education.
