Winning

by Marcus Robinson

It was a very tense moment at Robeson High School as John Hope College Prep battled St. Frances High in the state regional basketball game.

The clock was ticking and it seemed as though John Hope would lose the game, but John Hope wasn’t about to give up just yet. As the clock winds down to the last few minutes and seconds and with the aid of his team, Namon Smith number 2 fired a 3 pointer making the final score 61 to 60 with John Hope winning at the buzzer. St. Frances hung in and gave a valiant effort and didn’t go down without a fight. At one time they led by six points but tonight, February 24 2017, was John Hope’s moment.

The gym was almost packed with the crowds on both ends of the gymnasium cheering loudly for their team but in the end only one team would win and that was John Hope College Prep, the kids from Englewood. They will now go onto the next level. On Tuesday February 28 at 6:00 pm, John Hope will play 1A Luther North High School at Crane High School in Chicago. Another exciting game to look forward to.
