Only 4 out of 2,000 churches in Chicago displayed a sign in support of a Free South Africa and Nelson Mandela

FREE SOUTH AFRICA – A sign was displayed on the front lawn of Trinity United Church of Christ during the anti-apartheid movement and stayed there until Madiba was free and the first elections in which Blacks could vote were held.
Rev. Jeremiah Wright asked (by mail) 2000 churches in Chicago to buy the TransAfrica sign as Trinity had done — for under $100. Only three churches in the city responded to his request — two of them were white congregations.
We honor Rev. Wright for his leadership and Prophetic Voice; For standing up for the least of these and preaching the word in season and out of season.
“Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all long suffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.”- 2 Timothy 4: 2-5
